Learning Profiles (NN)
This week Mr. Whiting came to our class to tell us about learning profiles. It was very interesting to learn about them for example your left side is called the logic side as the right side is called gasalt. We got to see what learning profile we suited us and I tested NN. In the next paragraphs I'm going to write about when I learn best, what I need to do, the strategies that would help me, and what I would like my teachers to know about me.
I learn best when....
No one is making weird sounds with their fingers, laughing weirdly without reasoning, fiddle with different things, and especially when no one is making drum riffs with their desks while I'm doing serious work or taking a test. I also learn best through movement and by focusing on the whole picture, and when I sit with my left ear facing the teacher. I learn best when teachers use metaphors and examples. Those are for the most part when I learn best.
I need to....
Work on hearing and communicating in a more direct way. I need to start following step- by- step- instructions. I most importantly need to enter the pieces of information, and to be able to put them together in a undeviating logical order and communicate them. I eventually have to become much more organized with things and do things a whole lot more carefully. Those are mainly the things I need to work on.
The strategies that would help me in my learning is....
Becoming more organized and doing my work in a smart and more orderly fashion. Another strategy is to put work in front of free time. A very smart plan is to check Moodle daily and make sure what I'm going to do each and every day. Something that would help me personally is not to get distracted easily and just to continue my work. Those are basically the strategies that would help me in my learning the most.
I would like my teachers to know this about me....
I try to learn but I get distracted way to easily by things. I focus better when I doodle or play around with things. Another thing is that I work much better after I have done a sport or ran a lot. The two things that I would like my teachers to know about me primarily is that I really prefer not to sit next to my friends during class and secondly, for some reason when I'm in a green room or if I look at something green under stress I become more calm. Those are the things I would really like my teachers to know about me.

reflection on Literature circle
My partner for this literature circle was Tyler. Last week Tyler and I worked on a collaborative literature together on the book Thundercave these are the benefits of working with a classmate, challenges and obstacles which I overcame (tried to overcome) and also the new understandings I gained about the novel.
The benefits of working with a classmate.
The benefits of working with a classmate was that you had an extra person to give you feedback and also give you some extra ideas. Another benefit is that there is someone else to correct your work incase if you spelled something wrongly or if your grammar is incorrect.
Challenges / obstacles which you overcame (tried to overcome)
One obstacle that I overcame was that I had to tell my partner if it would be okay to switch somethings and another challenge, was that I did not want to let my partner down because otherwise he would get a bad grade because of me. A huge obstacle that I tried to overcome was to not get distracted in any way so I could focus clearly on doing a good job on my literature circle.
New understandings that you gained about the novel
A new understanding that I gained about the novel is that it turned out to be completely the opposite of what I had predicted was going to be about. Another understanding that I gained from the novel was that there was a huge variety of new words I learned.

A Reflection of my Literature Circle
How did your groups discussion helped your understanding of the novel?
The groups discussion helped my understanding of the novel. For example the passage that Gerald read made me think of the book in a completely different way. Tyler's passage was very interesting too because I think of the passage he read as an unimportant passage but then I realized it was very important.
What are the connections that you made during your discussion?
My first connection was that my moms dad got divorced and that relates to Jacobs mom divorcing his dad. My second connection was that when my dog got run over by a car my family and I ran down to check on him as soon as my maid contacted us which relates to when Jacob's mom got driven over by a car and he rushed to the emergency room.
Predictions
My prediction is that Jacob will move to the Kenyan bush with his dad but his dad will be a little bit disappointed because he had no idea. I also think that Jacob will be in a lot of dangerous journeys.

Mudskipper
Today was a very peaceful in the mangrove plantation compared to yesterday when this big giants attacked. They say they want to help by planting mangroves and I thought they are helping the environment it cant be that bad... It was the worst day of my life including that day when the massive white cold stuff came down from the sky and attacked us.
I was going down to my house when i heard boom boom boom! I thought not two days in a row give us a little bit of space. It was too late their raid had begun. It was a very dramatic and fatal day for me it was a extremely hot and suddenly I saw a huge shadow stalk me. I was praying for him not to fall but it was too late.
I opened my eyes and i saw he had missed me by an inch. A million thoughts rushed to my head and I thought I was the ultimate survivor. Compared to yesterday today was much more excitboom!

A Time I saw Bullying and I Got Involved
Recently the whole 6th grade has had a talk about bullying. We got to see a movie about kids bullying other children in a public American school. I thought that in my old school that swearing and being racist was the line until I saw this video. In the video they were pushing, kicking, calling mean names, punching, laughing at people that were different than them, and a lot more things. There ways of bullying made their victims wounded, hurt, and embarrassed to the point that they don't want to go to school any longer.
When I was in 5th grade I witnessed my best friend get bullied in P.E class. He has dark brown skin and the bully kept on calling him racist nicknames. He would call him names everywhere and he kept up with it and I always told him,"Should I stop him? Should I stop him?" and he kept on declining. My anger level kept on raising, raising, and raising every time the bully made fun of him.
At P.E class, my teacher said,"Welcome to the first day of gym this year", and we were all very happy. On that day we were supposed to jog for 6 minutes then practice basketball lay ups and then we would have a match so we were all very excited.
When my friend was running laps he ran to the black wall and the bully said,"Where did he go? Did he become invisible?" We both thought this is his last chance. The whole class was okay until the last ten minutes while we were playing the basketball match. We were winning 20-0 and the bully was very jealous. He started showing faces and swearing at my friend. Then suddenly he ran to to my friend and started down staring him and pushing him around. I looked to the corner and I thought that this was seriously the last time. I ran to the corner of the field and I said, "Don't hurt him!" The bully said, "Back off or I'll punch you!" I said punch me which I didn't really think threw and then I started regretting. He raised up his arm and his fist...
At that exact moment my teacher took his fist and said your coming with me and I praised to god. I don't know what she said but it really worked and since that day he has not bullied anyone. That is my story of a time I witnessed bulling and I got involved.

A Time When I Showed Courage
When I was 4 years old I lived in Taipei. On the weekends my dad used take me on his bike to Wulai and on the top of the mountain there was a cable car. It looked very fun but I've always been afraid of heights so there was no way I was going to try it but my dad tried really hard to convince me. It had bugged me from that day that I was afraid to go on the cable car.
During the next few months I refused to go on. One morning I was up and ready to overcome my fear, so I told my dad lets go on that cable. My dad was very surprised so he said are you sure and I nodded so we went. So when it was my turn to go into the cable car I gulped and I felt like fainting but I had a feeling that I had to do this. so I ran into the cable car and closed my eyes.
In the cable car a million thoughts came to my mind what will happen?, will I survive? and it felt like I had butterflies in my stomach. At that moment I took a deep breath and I thought to myself whats the worst thing that could happen?, but then I heard a bunch of noises from the roof and I thought that's the worst thing that could happen.
At that moment my dad said were here and i asked what were those noises and he said that was a man going by with a trolley. I felt like I had climbed Mount Everest or K.O Mike Tyson and at that second I felt like I had courage and I had overcame my fear of heights.
Since then I've always wanted go on cable cars with my dad and when I was in Singapore for the first time I said lets go on the Singapore Flyer and my dad said no thank you and I said so you don't have the courage?

What do the artifacts tell us about the lives of early humans?
What I Think
Artifacts tell us that early mankind was very creative and they were our intellectual equals.
For example:
Artifacts tell us that early mankind was very creative and they were our intellectual equals.
For example:
Leaf-shaped Biface They must decide the shape of the tool, and then they select the best materials. They also have to decide which tools to use to create the shapes.
Clovis Spear Point It is a unique tool that has been found in archaeological sites across the central and southern United States. The example came from a site in Nevada.
Obsidian Microblade This very small tool is made of obsidian and is called a Microblade. The size usually is between about 5-11 mm in width and 15-45 mm in length.
Obsidian Microblade Tool maker tool used microblades form. For example, by the spear into a bone or wood that is quite amazing the length of the cutting slot number microblades.
Obsidian Core This is an obsidian core - it is a rock formation microblades. One of the core showed traces of leaves were removed.
Obsidian CoreThis is the core of obsidian for the production of long and thin microblades.
Folsom Point This is a replica of a type of spear point known as a Folsom Point. Folsom points have been found in many archaeological sites in North America.
Spearthrower Weight Stone weights were often attached onto spear throwers to increase the power and the speed of the spear.
Fishing Weight This fishing weight, made by drilling a hole in a rock, was used to weigh down fishing lines and nets which is a very creative idea. |
These examples can show you how amazingly smart these hominids were and how there intelligence level is just as high as ours. Information found from www.sfu.museum/journey

Second Blog Post
As our assignment we had to pick one out of the three types of social scientists and I picked Archaeologist.
Why did I pick Archaeologist?
I picked Archaeologist because Indiana Jones is one. I found it interesting that you be allowed to travel to other countries to discover things. It is quite cool that you are allowed to explore caves and other fascinating places.
Why not a Geographer?
I don't find geography that interesting and I am not good at it. You can not count on me to be a geographer in the future because I find it a bit boring and its one of my worst subjects.
Why not a Historian?
It was a difficult choice for me because history is one of my favorite subjects but to be an Archaeologist is more of an adventure.
That is why I picked to be an Archaeologist.

My life
Hi, I'm Jesper. I come from Sweden and I'm 10 years old. I have lived in Malaysia for 6 years but before that I lived in Taiwan for 4 years. I like to play soccer and basketball. My favorite soccer team is Chelsea and my favorite basketball team is the LA Lakers.
The last three books I have read were Artemis Fowl & Time Paradox by Eoin Golfer. I also read Scorpia & Ark Angel by Anthony Horowitz. I like to read all adventure books.
The last movie I saw was in Sweden this summer, the movies name was Farsan which means Dad in English and it was a very funny movie.
One of my academic goals this year is to improve my Spanish.
One of my social goals for this year is to make a lot of new friends and to be a nicer person.
My favorite vacation memory is watching Kiss Live with my two uncles in Stockholm Stadium. I enjoyed it because I had never seen Kiss performing live before and that was my lifetime dream which I got to experience it!
The five adjectives that I would describe myself are sporty, young, neutral, calm, and curious.
